Strokes of History: Through the Silk Road

Silk Road - China Art Masters world Tour Exhibition, which was inaugurated  in the national Capital on July 7 at Art Spice Gallery, The Metropolitan Hotel and Spa gave the Indian audiences an impeccable insight into the Chinese art history.

Art is something which cannot be restricted to the outer world. It is like a border of flowers along the course of civilization. It enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. One cannot suppress art as it finds its way to get delivered to the whole world. Art is something which can bring two cultures or countries close. If we talk about art, India and China sail on the same ship.

Both the countries are quite rich in terms of culture. So it was a must to exchange art of one’s country with another. Some of the Chinese artists being a friendly neighbour initiated the step and shepherded the art exhibition recently in the national Capital.

The glory of Chinese art was spread across the city as some of the most renowned Chinese artists exhibited their art works in the presence of various Indian artists.

The lamp lighting was done by Jawahar Sircar, Ina Puri, Dr Ravi Kumar and eminent artist Naresh Kapuria. The event was curated by Cai Cheng and Yin Hong Sheng. “Art is something which brings the world close to us and makes us realize that such creativity can surprise us,” said Jawahar Sircar.

The theme of the exhibition was Lord Buddha and the color red which is a symbol of luck in the Chinese culture. Paintings were not only fascinating but were also supposed to make viewers feel something.

The hard work of the talented artists that had gone into making this event a success was clearly visible which reflected in their paintings. About 17 Chinese artists exhibited their paintings at the event.

The works were mainly comprised of traditional Chinese art style-Ink, also termed as watercolor or brush painting. Against the surreal style of painting, the art works were more inclined towards real picture narrating scenic beauty. It was soothing to eyes to see such brilliant masterpieces by various Chinese artists.

Getting to see such artworks of another country not only gets us acquainted with their culture but also helps in the development of a better society and civilization.
