Stokes, Moeen, Plunkett want to play in IPL

Three of England’s World T20 squad members, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Liam Plunkett, on Wednesdayexpressed their keenness to play in the highly lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) whose dates invariably clash with their domestic and international season.

“The IPL is a massive attraction to everyone around the world. There are also other competitions around the world in which we, England cricketers, don’t get an opportunity to play,” said Stokes during an open media session here.

“IPL doesn’t come in great time for us in terms of the summer of Test cricket, county cricket. It is something to look forward in the future,” said the swashbuckling all-rounder.

Ali, who was not allowed to take part in the last IPL auction by his home cricket board ECB, said he would love to be part of the popular T20 League.

“I would love to play in the IPL one day. It looks like a very glamorous competition. And when you play with other international stars it is going to be good for your game and I would also love to work on my game with the other spinners here,” he said.

Pace bowler Plunkett also wanted to take a plunge in the cash-awash League.
