State govt transfers MSVP of SSKM Hospital

In a major reshuffle the state government on Friday transferred Dr Manas Sarkar, the medical superintendent cum vice principal (MSVP) of SSKM Hospital to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital by replacing Dr Manimay Banerjee who will take charge as the MSVP of NRS Medical College and Hospital. Dr Karabi Boral will be the new MSVP of the SSKM Hospital.

Dr SK Ali Amam who was currently serving as the MSVP of the NRS Medical College and Hospital has been transferred to Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital replacing Dr Panchanan Kundu who has been removed from his post.

It may be mentioned that there was a students’ agitation at the SSKM Hospital on late Wednesday after a doctor was roughed up at the emergency department of the hospital and called for a wildcat strike on Thursday placed their various demands before the hospital authorities.

Interns and junior doctors had staged demonstration outside the director of the hospital demanding adequate security for the doctors. They lifted the demonstration after the hospital authorities had assured them that their demands will be considered.

The prolonged strike hampered the health services in the hospital and the senior officials had failed to check the incident.
