State govt to introduce free Wi-Fi services in colleges

The state government has decided to introduce free Wi-Fi services at all the state owned colleges.
The purpose of the move was to encourage the students towards the information and technology. 
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had taken up a series of projects to improve the socio-economic condition of people. Steps were taken to improve the quality of life for the people. The new Wi-Fi facilities in the colleges will help the students to download various study materials and other necessary items by using free Wi-Fi services on their mobile phone or computers.

For improving the quality of life of the city dwellers the Chief Minister had introduced free Wi-Fi service in some particular areas in the city.

According to the state education department, the services would be made available in 60 colleges in the first phase and the other colleges will be brought under this service. State government has already sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the Calcutta University to develop the infrastructure. The project will be completed in different phases. Many college students have welcomed the move and said that the new scheme would greatly benefit them.

It may be mentioned that through various previous projects like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi many school children, especially from the far off districts have been benefitted. The brainchild of the Chief Minister, these projects had earned acclaim from other states and international organisations. In another move, the state government had started giving shoes among the school children especially in the districts.
