SSKM forms six-member panel to probe baby’s death

SSKM Hospital authorities on Thursday formed a six-member committee to probe into the death of a newborn girl after her family had alleged negligence in treatment. Doctors in the hospital said the baby, who had been suffering from some metabolic disorders since her birth, eventually led to her brain death. 

The girl’s family members claimed that she died due to excessive heat in the radiant warmer. The baby was put in the warmer after her condition deteriorated. She died in the hospital on Wednesday. 

The committe comprises of Bandand Banerjee nursing super, Anindya Roy, assistant super, Dr Suchandra Dutta, HoD Neonatology, Dr Supratim Dutta, HoD Gynecology and Dr Sankari Dutta, Anesthetist.
