SSB cracks down on traffickers, 2 held

Troops of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in two incidents arrested two human traffickers and rescued 14 persons among whom 10 were women on August 17.

The anti-human trafficking team of the 41st Battalion SSB Ranidanga arrested one trafficker Gita Nike (35) of <g data-gr-id="13">Chalsa</g> Pakkaline, Jalpaiguri, and rescued two minor girls aged between 14 and 15 years while they were being taken to Delhi.

In another incident in Assam, the 33rd Battalion SSB <g data-gr-id="14">Rangia</g> arrested one trafficker Ranjit Barman, of Natunbazar Kumarikata, Baksa district of Assam and rescued 12 persons, among whom 8 were women, aged between 19 and 32 years from <g data-gr-id="15">Rangia</g> station, while they were being taken to Porbandar, Gujarat, for labour work in a fishing company.

The arrested traffickers, along with the rescued persons, have been handed over to GRP <g data-gr-id="11">Rangia</g>.
