Srinivasan tenders ‘unconditional apology’ to SC

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President-in-exile N Srinivasan on Friday tendered an “unconditional apology” in the Supreme Court for “breaching” its direction by chairing the Board’s working Committee meeting on February 8. Srinivasan’s counsel Kapil Sibal told the apex court that he will not preside over the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting to be held on March 2.

Earlier, concerned with the turn of events, the SC bench of Justices TS Thakur and Ibrahim Kalifulla said that Srinivasan should not have presided over cricket board’s working committee meeting on Feb 8 as he was already disqualified from holding any post in the board. The bench noted the submission of Sibal that “Srinivasan has realised that his act of presiding over the working committee meeting of February 8 was not well advised” and in no way his intention was to defy the court orders.
