Sreesanth out for five months

India pacer S. Sreesanth has been ruled out of action for five months as he needs two surgeries on his toes.

Sreesanth was part of the Rajasthan Royals this season but couldn't feature in a single match before heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) last month for rehabilitation.

'Got to get two surgeries (on both my toes) will be out of the game for 5 months, hopefully will try to get back soon. Take care, thanks a lot,' the mercurial fast bowler said on social networking site Twitter.

Sreesanth hasn't played for India since the Tests against England last August. He featured in only one first-class match since then before picking up a toe injury.

Sreesanth had opted against surgery in December and preferred ayurvedic treatment. He failed to get fit in time for the CB series in Australia earlier this year.

Royals had hoped that Sreesanth would get fit within a week at the NCA but the news comes as a set-back as their all-rounder Kevin Cooper was also ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured knee.
