Spurned lover arrested for stabbing woman

A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old woman in Outer  Delhi's Vijay Vihar area on Thursday.

The police said the victim, a resident of Budh Vihar, was pursuing graduation from a private university.

They added she was going to a nearby market with her sister when a the man, who had been stalking her for a few months, attacked her with a knife and fled on his scooty. Before fleeing, he even threatened to eliminate her if she continued to refuse his proposal, police said.

The victim’s sister made a PCR call, after which she was taken to a hospital. The police identified the accused’s scooty with the help of footage captured by CCTV cameras installed in the area.

“The victim’s family said the attacker was once their tenant, but when he started stalking their younger daughter, they asked him to leave the room. But this did not deter him and he kept stalking her,” said a senior police official.

The victim had even filed a case of molestation against the accused a few months ago. He was then arrested but was later released on bail, police said.
