Sania-Flipkens beaten in Round of 16 match
Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her women's doubles partner Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium were beaten by Slovakian Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-jan of Taiwan in a Round of 16 match of the Wimbledon here on Monday. Hingis-Yung-jan beat the 13th seeded pair 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets. The Indo-Belgium pair never looked in the contention and a strong game from their opponents saw them bowing out of the prestigious meet. Meanwhile, British tennis player Johanna Konta beat French Caroline Garcia 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4 in the last 16 at Wimbledon
on Monday. The 26-year-old Konta, seeded No.6, left her best to the last as she committed just two unforced errors, fired four aces and won 79 per cent of first serve points and 83 per cent of second serve points in the third set, reports Efe.
