Aditi cards 70, but lies Tied-58th in Thornberry Creek

Aditi Ashok made a fair start but a late bogey dropped her to two-under 70 that placed her Tied-58th at the end of the first round of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Aditi cannot afford too many mistakes in the second round in order to make the weekend.

The 19-year-old who has made decent progress in her rookie year had four birdies after a bogey start. She was three-under and well-placed on a day when the scores were low. She then bogeyed 16th for a card of 70.
Sei Young Kim and Laura Gonzalez Escallon shot matching 7-under-par 65s Thursday from the Thornberry Creek at Oneida course to sit atop the standings by one shot over two golfers. Kim, who notched a victory earlier this year at the Citibanex Lorena Ochoa Match Play, has three other top-5 finishes on the season, including a tie for fourth at last week's KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Escallon, meanwhile, is in her first year on the LPGA Tour. However, she's been playing well right out of the gates — she notched a top 10 in her debut, and had a season-best finish (a tie for fifth) at the Manulife LPGA Classic just a few weeks ago. Two other rookies, Madeliene Sheils and Min-G Kim, are chasing Kim and Escallon. Sheils and Kim – who hasn't made a cut yet – are both at 6-under.
