Saina Nehwal, Sindhu exit in Round II

Former world No. 1 Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu on Thursday bowed out of the Indonesia Super Series Premier.

It was curtains for Saina and Sindhu as they lost their second round matches in three-game affairs. Saina lost to Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol 15-21, 21-6, 16-21 in a 63-minute contest. Saina, ranked 15th in the BWF women's singles rankings, lost the first game to her 14th-ranked opponent but stormed back to claim the second by a huge margin, only to lose the decider.

This was the second meeting between the two, and leaves the head-to-head record at 1-1. Saina, 27, had entered the second round on Wednesday with a 17-21, 21-18, 21-12 win over the eighth seed and former world champion Ratchanok Intanon.

World number three and fourth seed PV Sindhu suffered a shock defeat at the hands World No. 10 Zhang Beiwen in round two of the Indonesia Super Series Premier on Thursday. After winning the first game, Sindhu went down to the 26-year-old 21-15, 12-21, 18-21.
