Press Club hosts friendly football match with inmates

Kolkata: In a unique gesture, members of Kolkata Press Club played a friendly football match with inmates of different correctional homes to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti on Monday. The inmates beat the journalists by 4-1. Kingshuk Pramanik, general secretary, Press Club scored the lone goal for the journalists. The match was played at the Clive House ground in Dum Dum. The inmates who participated belonged to Alipore Central correctional home, Presidency and Dum Dum correctional homes. Many of the inmates had played in the first division while some had represented districts. Ujjal Biswas, state minister for Correctional Services, Arun Kumar Gupta, DG and IG, Correctional Services were present. Gifts were handed over to the inmates while they gave hand-made items to the journalists.
