India to bid for 3 global events

KOlkata: Indian Olympic Association president Dr Narinder Batra proposed to host three important global events — Youth Olympics 2026, Asian Games 2030 and Olympics 2032 — in the coming years to the International Olympic Committee president Dr Thomas Bach at a press meet here on Thursday.
"In India, we are actually going to bid for three events. Whether it will come to us or not is something for the International Olympic Association to decide. Youth Olympics 2026, 2030 Asian Games and 2032 Olympics are our targets," said Batra. However, the former Hockey India Federation president added that he was skeptical about winning the bid. "I don't really think we have a chance to win the bid but let's participate and get a taste of the competition," he said. Bach, on the other hand, acknowledged IOA president's intention and said: "I think it's not the right time to discuss in depth the future candidature for the Olympic Games because no procedure for hosting it is open at the moment. But we have taken note of the intention of the IOA to host the games in future," Bach added.
