DD's Iyer and Shaw in India A squad

New Delhi: After a high-flying performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, Delhi Daredevils' Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer caught selectors attention as they were selected for the India A side here on Tuesday.
It was a double delight for Iyer who was also bestowed with the opportunity to lead the A side in challenging overseas condition in England and West Indies.
The duo termed the selection as a big opportunity and hope to make it big for their growing career.
"I feel really good. I think it will be a great opportunity for me to go there and perform for my team and I would try to grab this opportunity with both hands. Will try my best over there and thanks to the selectors for giving me this chance for this India A tour," said the 18-year-old U-19 stalwart.
While 23-year old Iyer said: " It is a great feeling it is to lead the India A side. I think that the captaincy gets the best out of me and I learnt how to be responsible in batting. Also, I haven't played that many matches in the sub-continent but playing abroad is going to be really important because next year's World Cup will be in England and if I score really well there, I might land a spot."
When asked about what he had learned from playing in Ranji trophy and u-19 cricket, Shaw stated that they both are completely different ball game and have a separate set of challenges.
"It is not easy to perform well in domestic cricket because you need some patience over there and there are some great bowlers, especially in Ranji games.
"When you compare Ranji trophy to a T20, it's different and obviously the crowd over here and the support, so IPL is quite big and it's a great challenge for me to be here and perform under greats."
