Speeding tempo kills cop

A Delhi Police head constable was killed by a speeding mini tempo in Welcome area of east Delhi on Thursday evening. The head constable was identified as Satender and was posted with Special Cell. He was a resident of Shaheed Nagar in Ghaziabad and on Thursday evening, he was returning home after completing his duty.

‘The incident took place on Thursday around 7.15 in the evening. A PCR call was made by a passerby. Satender was found lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, said a police official.

The official added the a mini-tempo hit the cop from behind. Satender lost control on his motorcycle and fell on ground. Then the tempo crushed him. The accident took place at Keshav Chowk flyover in Welcome. During the initial enquiry, it was revealed that the tempo was trying to overtake the victim’s motorcycle and was in very high speed.

‘The body has been sent for post mortem and the driver has been arrested. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the errant driver,’ said a police officer.
