SP supremo hospitalised, swine flu suspected

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to a hospital in Gurgaon on late Friday night after he complained of breathlessness and uneasiness.

The 75-year-old’s samples have been taken for swine flu testing and speculations are rife that Yadav might also have contracted the H1N1 virus.

K Shegal of Medanta hospital told Millennium Post over phone: “Apart from other samples collected for diagnosing, we have also taken his sample to test swine flu virus. Since the result is till awaited, we cannot confirm about Yadav’s contraction to the H1N1 virus.” The SP chief has been 
advised rest.

Sources in the party said Yadav might have contracted the influenza virus during the Saifai Mahotsav as he was in the festival for several hours where thousands of people had arrived from different parts of the state for the annual event. Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary has said there is nothing to worry as Yadav will be discharged from the hospital very soon.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor was discharged on Saturday after being treated for the influenza virus. Kapoor, 29, who was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai last week, took to Twitter to announce the news of going back home. “Discharged! Home sweet home!,” she posted on Twitter.
