South DMC to provide mobile dispensaries in rural areas

In order to make medical care available in villages that fall under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the corporation decided to introduce mobile dispensaries in rural areas on Thursday.

To begin with, four mobile dispensaries will be introduced. Subsequently, all villages under SDMC will be covered under the project.
‘The rural areas lack proper health facilities and dispensaries. Furthermore, doctors don’t join postings in villages. This further hampers health facilities in these areas,’ SDMC standing committee chairman Rajesh Gehlot said.
Gehlot was on an inspection of the nine villages that fall under SDMC area along with the municipal commissioner.

The chairman directed the commissioner to purchase four mobile dispensaries and deploy them on priority basis. ‘One mobile van per three to four villages would be deployed depending on their population in two shifts,’ Gehlot added.
Gehlot also informed that SDMC has started the process of procuring of 80 waste removal trucks to strengthen the sanitary infrastructure in its four zones.

Gehlot said the procurement process will be completed within 15 days. Gehlot also launched a 20 points programme in the Kharkhari Nahar village. Under the programme, all lanes and drains will be cleaned and renovated.
