Targeting government and semi-government departments for not paying property tax, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to attach bank accounts of all such offices like DDA which owes Rs 746 crore in this regard to the civic body.

In her order, Mayor Savita Gupta directed that stringent action should be taken against property tax defaulters of the Central, Delhi government, and semi-government institutes and departments.

Listing major defaulters, she said Delhi Development Authority (DDA) owes Rs 746 crore and Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) Rs 84.22 crore.

‘Like this, many Central, Delhi government and semi-government departments have to deposit huge amount, but they are reluctant to pay,’ the Mayor said.
