South Delhi gets toilet blocks for women & divyangs

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) will construct 110 toilet blocks areas under its jurisdiction. The new blocks will have facilities for women and disabled people.

Recently, the SDMC had dedicated 46 toilet blocks in one go at different places. The built-up centres are located in various areas – 21 in Central Zone, 16 in South, 9 in West and five in Najafgarh. Of these blocks, 20 per cent are for women. The remaining are divided into two portions – one each for men and women. There is also provision for physically challenged people.

Most of the blocks are located in residential colonies and areas, which attract a huge crowd. The toilet blocks have been provided with electricity and water supply. Besides, safai karmcharis will clean the blocks.

“The new centers will go a long way in ensuring the success of the swachhata abhiyan,” said Shailendra Singh, Chairman of the SDMC Standing Committee.
