South Delhi: 19 children rescued

Nineteen children employed in shops and godowns were on Thursday rescued from several areas of South Delhi.

The rescue comes after District Magistrate (South) Niharika Rai ordered SDM to conduct raids in some areas where children were employed. The children, rescued from Khanpur and Saidulajab areas, have been taken for medical examination.

Based on a tip-off, a team led by SDM (Saket) and another team headed by SDM (Hauz Khas) conducted separate raids in Khanpur and Saidulajab areas <g data-gr-id="20">alongwith</g> representatives of NGO Bachpan Bachao Aandolan and rescued the children, an official said. “The teams have sealed a <g data-gr-id="22">godown</g>, electrical items shop, cycle repair shop, grocery store and <g data-gr-id="21">dhabas</g>, where these children were working,” the official added.
