Facing financial difficulties, South Asian Games gold medallist Sayani Ghosh on Tuesday got support from East Bengal Football Club who promised to help the city swimmer in future.

“East Bengal Club was proud to bear the financial responsibility of Sayani as a sportsperson and to stand beside her, every step of the way,” the club stated in a release during a felicitation ceremony on Tuesday.

Sayani clinched the gold medal in 400m individual medley in the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati last month.
Meanwhile, East Bengal also announced the launch of their fan club.

“This is a gift for all the millions of fans of our club who will be able to connect with us more and provide their inputs and their love through it. We are glad that we could come up with such a great platform where all our fans can unite in a common forum,” East Bengal president Dr Pranab Dasgupta said.

The membership form will be available from tomorrow onwards.
