Sounds of relief

The recent floods have perhaps been the worst natural catastrophe Jammu and Kashmir state has faced. To express the solidarity and raise funds for the Kashmir flood victims, a musical evening titled Concert for Kashmir is being organised in the Capital that features some of the young maestro of Indian music - Abhay Rustum Sopori (Santoor), Ajay Prasanna (Flute), Chandrima Majumdar (Sarod), Kamal Sabri (Sarangi), Meeta Pandit, Nitin Sharma, Ojesh Pratap Singh, Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra (Vocal), Ragini Rainu (Sufi Vocal),  Salil Bhatt (Satvik Veena), Saskia Rao De Haas (Cello), Shubhendra Rao (Sitar) and many others.

The event is organised by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) in collaboration with the India International Centre and Old World Culture. The initiative is led by the music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori, hailed as the cultural bridge of J&K with the rest of the country, and music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori. The funds raised through such charity concerts by SaMaPa shall be channelised towards the relief and rehabilitation process.
