Soon, Ggn to get medical college, hospital to augment healthcare

A new medical college of 100 MBBS seats will soon be developed in Gurugram.

Besides the medical college, there are also plans to build a 300-bed hospital to enhance public healthcare facilities in the city. The following announcement was made by the Chief Minister of Haryana’s Office.

According to officials, the building of a medical college and hospital comes under the plans of enhancing public healthcare facilities in the state.

An amount of Rs 3,900 crore was allocated from the state Budget towards Health and Family welfare. This was thirty seven per cent more than what was allocated in 2015-2016.

According to the CMO officials, there are plans to not only build the medical college and hospital in the city but also upgrade it subsequently.

The officials added that the 300-bed medical hospital will later be increased to the capacity of 500
beds while the capacity of the medical college too will be increased from 100 to 200.

Public healthcare facilities has been a big challenge in the city. Even as there are two public hospitals in the city, one near the Sadar Bazaar area and the other at Sector 10, it still is unable to bear the load of the patients.

Lack of facilities results in most of the patients either going to AIIMS and Safdarjung hospitals or rely on private healthcare facilities.
