Soon, AC, non-AC buses for Noida, Greater Noida

With a view to improve public transport in the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida, the three development authorities of the region have signed an agreement with Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Tuesday. As per the agreement, 50 air conditioned (AC) and 50 Non-AC buses will operate in the first stage.

This city bus system will be integrated with the upcoming metro service in the city for better public transport. “There will be smart card equipped with a chip that may be used in Metro and buses both. The system will enable the passengers to travel with one ticket in entire Noida and Greater Noida,” informed Santosh Yadav, Managing Director of NMRC.

Yadav further added that these buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras for women’s security. These cameras will be connected to police control rooms so that immediate action may be taken in case of any untoward incident. Sanjay Agarwal, chairperson of the three development authorities — NOIDA, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), and Yamuna Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA); and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GNIDA were also present on signing of the agreement. As per the agreement, funds for the buses will be provided by NOIDA while NMRC will look after operations. “The first phase of 50 buses will start from October,” informed Santosh Yadav.

These buses will operate from Botanical Garden and will be parked in Sector 88 depot. “All the buses will be equipped with automatic vehicle location system. There will be 24x7 call centre to provide information to passengers regarding bus timings and their routes,” added Yadav. NMRC will also make a mobile app that could be downloaded to provide all the necessary information regarding operation of buses.
