Sonam, Ayushman bag Yash Raj’s next

By the looks of it Ayushman Khurana and Sonam Kapoor will be trying to live on love and fresh air for the the next Yash Raj Films (YRF) venture, while Rishi Kapoor could just be bursting their love bubble.

A satire written by writer and director Habib Faisal on Delhi, recession, credit card junkies and private sector revolves around love that gets threatened when pockets get empty.

The movie will be produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Nupur Asthana who returns to the YRF camp after her 2011 debut Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge which had found a niche audience but had not performed any miracles in the box office. Here’s hoping, with a better team of stars, Asthana scores.

As the story goes, Ayushman plays the role of Mohit Chadhdha, passionately in love with Mayera Sehgal (Sonam Kapoor) and they strongly believe that love conquers all, including money issues.

But Mayera’s father, VK Sehgal (Rishi Kapoor) doesn’t believe in the love and fresh air philosophy.

The couple in love face quite the opposition as recession strikes. We’ll have to wait and find out who has the last laugh in this romantic comedy as the ‘safe playing sarkari’ V K Sehgal takes on Mohit and Mayera.

This the first time Ayushman and Sonam will be working together for a production and this is also Ayushman’s first collaboration with YRF. The untitled film is the actors’ second project after the critically acclaimed Vicky Donor.

The movie is slated for a 2013 release.
