Snowfall, heavy rain bring bone-chilling cold in U’Khand

The entire hill state is under the grip of shivering cold waves as rain and snowfall in higher altitudes made life out of gear. In the evening on Friday, the state met department recorded rainfall of 24.2 mm in the entire day. The lowest minimum temperature recorded in Uttarakhand was 0 degree Celsius at Mukteshwar, a famous tourist spot in Nainital district.

The shivering cold accompanied by non-stop rainfall in the state capital witnessed low turn-out of students in the public school, however state government offices remained closed on account of Sant Ravidas Jayanti.

According to Anand Sharma, director of state met department, there is expectation of more rainfall in the next 24 hours, and chances of snowfall in higher altitudes mountains cannot be ruled out.
