Sleaze racket: Five held from Kestopur
Police uncovered a sleaze racket from Kestopur and arrested five persons including three women. It has been alleged that the women used to run the racket from a flat at Kestopur with the help of some local people.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of policemen raided the building in Kestopur area and caught the accused. The women and their clients were in a compromising position when the police raided the room.
According to the police, the women, who were arrested with their clients from the room came from the outskirts of adjoining districts. The clients were reported to be businessmen in the city. They were booked under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act. The building has been sealed by the investigators.
For quite some days, police have been getting reports about a sleaze racket operating in a building.
A senior police officer of the Bidhannagar said that many men and women were seen coming in the house late at night. The neighbours had never complained about it to the police. They were all fearful and suspected that the racket had links with local anti-socials. It may be recalled that police have been raiding local bars to unearth sleaze rackets in the past few weeks.
The continuous effort by police to expose the sex and sleaze racket operating in the lesser known bars of the area ultimately bore fruit when two women, hailing from Mumbai and Punjab respectively, were rescued by the cops. Few months ago, the Kolkata police busted a sex racket from Behala and arrested 9 persons in this connection.
