Slain cop’s murderers arrested by Special Cell sleuths
Sleuths of Special Cell arrested three persons in connection with the murder of constable Anand Singh, who sacrificed his life while attempting to apprehend three robbers in Outer Delhi’s Bawana area.
According to the senior officers of the Special Cell, the accused have been identified as Sumit Thakran (21), Rahul (21) and Sunil (20). Police said that they have recovered the weapon of offence, the motorcycle used in the crime and the robbed cell phone of the complainant.
On August 19, at around 9.15 pm while Anand, posted at chowki number 5 of Bawana, was passing by Samosa Chowk on his bike, he noticed the three accused were trying to flee after robbing a lady identified as Meena. Without wasting a minute, Anand Singh got off his motorcycle and went towards the robbers to nab them.
According to a senior officer: “While Singh successfully caught hold of one of them, another robber who had a pistol, opened fire in the air. The robber then entered into a fist fight with Anand and managed to secure the release of their accomplice who was being held by the constable. As the three rushed to their bike to flee, the constable gave them a chase. Upon this, the robber armed with the pistol aimed his firearm at him and shot him on the chest. As the braveheart constable fell to the ground, the trio managed to escape on their motorcycle along with the robbed cash and mobile phone of the woman.”
Seeing the gravity of the incident, several teams of Delhi Police were pressed into action. Various teams of the Special Cell also took up the task of identifying and apprehending the culprits behind this gruesome murder.
Meanwhile, police also came out with the sketches of the three accused. “On August 26, we received a tip-off, that one of the accused, Sumit will be coming near Bawana main road. On this information, we laid a trap and apprehended Sumit. On his instance, Rahul was arrested in Daryapur Kalan Village and on Rahul’s instance the third accused Sunil was arrested from his residence.
