Sisodia slams school for forcing staff to enroll, orders probe

Delhi’s Education Minister Manish Sisodia has taken a strict view of the news report that the management of a private school forced the staff and students to enroll as members of a political party. The minister has directed the department of education to issue a show cause notice to the school and it has to respond within three days. As per the report, the Ryan International School withheld the payment of salaries to the staff till they completed the membership target, if it is found to be true, the Delhi government will not tolerate this unacceptable practice.

The department will also send an advisory to all the schools of the national Capital to desist from any kind of political activity and not to indulge in forcible membership of any political outfit. Delhi government is committed to creating a positive academic environment in educational institutions and private schools should not cross limits of decency and appropriate public behaviour.

The NSUI, National Students’ Union of India, has strongly condemned the abuse of power by the school management to further their political agenda by throttling the sanctity of being an educational institution. “As India’s largest and most responsible students’ organisation, we feel that learning environment, especially in schools, should be free from political interference of any kind. We won’t allow any such element to play with the impressionable young minds of our country,” an NSUI member said.
