Sisodia says enough money given to MCDs

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that Delhi government has released more funds to all three cash-strapped civic bodies compared to October last year and also appealed to Lieutenant Governor to ask DDA to release its property dues running to Rs 1,400 crore to MCDs. Sisodia alleged that an attempt is being made to vitiate the atmosphere that Delhi government is not cooperating with the MCD deliberately by not releasing funds to civic bodies.“The coming days are important for Delhi as India-Africa Summit involving around 3,500 delegates of 45 countries is being held here. “I want to remind that till October 2014 when Centre was running Delhi through LG, North MCD was given 58.58 per cent of funds, but the AAP government has released around 75 per cent of funds till October this year,” he said. The Deputy CM also said that till October 2014, South DMC had got 56.91 per cent funds while Delhi government has given 68.68 per cent of funds so far to MCD and besides, East municipal corporation had been given 58.24 per cent of funds till October last year, but it has received 63.48 % of funds from the city government this year.

“Delhi government has given more funds to MCDs in two quarters. The AAP government has released more funds to civic bodies in comparison to last year till October,” he also said. DDA has to give around 1,400 crore as property dues to all three MCDs. He wants to appeal to Centre through LG that they should intervene in the matter and ask the DDA to release its property dues to the civic bodies so that the shortage of funds could be resolved and the MCDs doesn’t have to face fund shortage.
