Sisodia addresses meet on biodiversity, climate

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said that there is need to have a fresh look at the issues relating to bio-diversity and sustainable development. “These days, development and environment have come to indicate different poles, whereas they should be seen as complementing each other,” said the minister during his delivering address as the chief guest of the two-day annual conference on Biodiversity and Climate Change at Delhi University’s Maharaja Agrasen College on Tuesday.

Emphasising on the need to be environmentally conscious by rethinking the way we look at nature, Sisodia said: “Nature should not be thought of in terms of contradictions like nature vs development, nature vs luxury or nature vs humanity. One should neither be scared of nature nor be exploitative towards it. One should only be aware of our organic relationship with nature to be able to restore its rightful place in both human and the universal way of life.”

He stressed that policy makers and legislators like him should assimilate academic and research interventions emerging from conferences like this.”
