Simian on ‘wanted’ list: Rs 20 k reward on head

Three days after killing a four-year-old differently abled boy by a monkey in Morta area of Ghaziabad, the villagers have announced a reward to Rs. 20,000 to catch that money. The locals have said that the person who will either provide information about the murderer monkey or will help in catching her will be rewarded. The move was announced after showing helplessness by the local authorities to catch the money.

On Thursday afternoon, a four-year-old differently abled boy was attacked and killed by a monkey inside his residence in Morta. The boy was apparently strangulated to death by the simian when he was playing inside the house with his brothers. The boy, identified as Mohan, was killed even before his family members or neighbours could rush to his aid. In afresh attack o Saturday morning, the errant monkey attacked Yogendra Kumar, and injured him badly.

Following the incidents, the people of the locality had requested the officials of Municipal Corporation of Ghaziabad and forest department to catch the money but the departments refused to initiate action claiming that the Animal Protection Act does not allow for this. Later the people held a meeting to decide future course of action. “The murderer monkey is dangerous for lives of children as well as elderly people. To avoid any mishap in future, it should be caught  and dropped far away. As the local authorities have failed to pay need on our heed, we have declared reward from our side which will be collected from every house hold,’ said a participant.
