Showcasing the best of fashion

Fashion reflects on a passionate garb which is worn by models in various fashion weeks held across the world. To showcase different elements of the fashion world, the Asian Designer Week commences on Saturday, May 7 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national Capital. 

This two-day event will showcase the works by designers from India and abroad and this conclave aims at continuous innovation, originality and entrepreneurship in Asian fashion. The first day will witness ‘Vasantsena’- by Sadan Pandey among other designers.

Inspired by the mystical beauty and charm of ‘Vasantsena’, designer Sadan Pandey brings forth his collection of sarees and gowns with elaborate ornamentation and embroideries. 

His entire collection will focus on inner beauty, undying love and passion that Vasantsena- a courtesan who gave all her riches to release her love from captivity, possessed. 

“Her passion is my motivation, and I try to find words in fabric; expressions in colour and attitude in trends, cuts and designs. With this collection I am trying to convey the story of Vasantsena,” says the NIFT alumnus.

Keeping the contemporary women in mind, he uses fabrics like georgette and crepe to create fluid designs that celebrate feminine values. 

The palette used, is a mixture of light and royal colors which celebrate various moods and aspects of a saga written ages ago. The richness of the gems and exquisite zardosi work depict celebration, love and passion whereas the lighter tones portray the inner beauty that is the pivot of the collection. Heavy gems, both precious and non-precious have been used to bring back the forgotten era of Vasantsena.

It intends to bring national and international designers at the same platform. It showcases their collection and gives a medium to the NewGen and NextGen designers. The concept behind the event is that it embodies the strong bond that exists between Asian countries. 

It has been conceived for promoting the interests of fashion designers, choreographers, makeup artists, across Asia. Having a pan-India presence Sadan Pandey’s work is currently retailing through dozens of fashion stores from India, with a prominent presence in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune and Kanpur.
