Sheila slams BJP for stalling Parliament

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit lambasted BJP on Monday for stalling Parliament over the alleged irregularities in coal block allocation, saying the main Opposition party was shying away from discussing the issue as it has ‘something to hide’. Accusing the BJP of trying to ‘mislead’ people on the coal block allocation issue, Dikshit said the country has a right to know about various aspects relating to it for which the Parliament must be allowed to function.

‘If BJP has something to say then they should come out and discuss it. But they are not ready for any discussion. You are running away from a Constitutional body which means you have something to hide. We do not have anything to hide,’ she said.

Dikshit was replying to a question on the stand-off between the Centre and the BJP over CAG report on coal block allocation with the main opposition party unrelenting on its demand for resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Chief Minister said the Centre wants to take a number of measures to spur the economic growth rate which has been on a slide but BJP was not allowing the government to implement the initiatives.

‘The government of India wants to take a number of measures to improve state of the economy but BJP creates hurdles for everything, be it FDI in retail and coal (block allocation)," Dikshit said.
