Indian medium-pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka starting November 2, due to an injury. Mumbai medium-pacer Dhawal Kulkarni has replaced Shami in the 15-member Indian squad to be led by Virat Kohli, which has been announced for the first three ODIs, said a BCCI release.
It is learnt that Shami has been advised 10 days of rest following his injury in the right toe. Dhawal will be eager to make an impression after a good showing in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal this month. The West Zone medium-pacer picked up seven wickets in the match (7-90), albeit in a losing cause against East Zone in the four-day game at Lahli.
