Shame City: Gang rape accused tried to abduct another girl

A day after the Delhi police charge-sheeted five of the six Delhi gang rape accused, sources said two accused–Pawan and Vinay–had disclosed during their interrogation that minutes before the victim was lured into the bus, they had tried to forcibly drag another girl into the bus. Reportedly, the girl was wearing a black dress and was  looking for transportation near IIT flyover.

Sources said this is precisely the reason why section 120B (conspiracy) has been slapped on the accused. ‘It was Ram Singh’s idea to drag the girl and he even asked Mukesh (the driver) to take the bus near her. The girl was lucky, as she found an auto-rickshaw and went away. Just a few meters, ahead the rape victim and her friend were also waiting and unfortunately they boarded the bus,’ the investigating officials said.

They added that ever since the accused had left home in RK Puram, they had criminal intentions. ‘First they robbed Ram Adhar near RK Puram, then they tried to drag this girl and finally they lured the gangrape victim and her friend into the bus from Munirka and carried out the horrific incident,’ the cops said. It has also been disclosed in the chargesheet that the victims were sitting on the first seat behind the driver.

The girl was taken to the back seat, where she was gang raped. The investigating officials also said that the sixth accused, who is a juvenile and has not been named in the chargesheet, kicked the girl several times in the stomach, due to which she developed more complications.

The 23-year-old victim had died on 29 December in Singapore after she was flown there by the government in the hope that she might recover under the supervision of specialist doctors and better facilities. The incident which had taken place on 16 December had triggered a nationwide outrage.
