Shaken ‘n Stirred
Amla honey shot
4 whole <g data-gr-id="30"><g data-gr-id="23">amlas</g>,</g> deseeded and chopped roughly
1 tsp amla crush
1/2 tsp powdered star anise (<g data-gr-id="24">chakri</g> <g data-gr-id="25">phool</g>)
1 tbsp honey
4 tbsp crushed ice
Star anise (<g data-gr-id="46">chakri</g> <g data-gr-id="47">phool</g>)
Combine Indian gooseberry, Indian gooseberry crush, star anise powder and 1½ cups of water in a mixer and blend till smooth. Strain the liquid and keep aside.
Combine the strained liquid and honey and mix well in a mixing glass.
In each shot glass, place 1 tbsp of crushed ice and pour equal quantity of the juice over it. Serve immediately garnished with a star anise on the rim of each glass.
Apple and orange drink
Combine apple, sugar, lemon juice and 1 cup of water in a broad non-stick pan and cook on a medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes or till the apples are tender. Stir occasionally the mixture to cool completely and blend in a mixer till smooth.
Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl and keep aside. Just before serving, add orange squash and mix well. Combine the apple-orange squash mixture, 3 cups of lemonade and 2 cups of soda in a deep bowl, mix well and pour equal quantities into 6 glasses. Serve immediately.
2 cups of peeled apple cubes
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup orange squash
3 cups of chilled lemon squash
2 cups of chilled soda
2 to 3 <g data-gr-id="104">tsps</g> of raspberry syrup
1 tsp lemon juice
3 tbsps of finely chopped mixed fruits (pineapple, pears and apples)
Put the raspberry syrup and lemon juice in a tall serving glass.
Add the fruits and fill up with lemonade.
Top with the lemon slice.
Thomasina Miers’ classic margarita
Fine sea salt, for rims
70ml <g data-gr-id="132">blanco</g> tequila
50ml fresh lime juice
30ml agave syrup
2 lime wedges, to garnish
Prepare 2 tumblers with salt rims
Shake all the ingredients over ice
and pour into the tumblers.
Garnish each with a wedge of lime.
Ginger Mojito Pitcher
30 mint leaves
1 shot stem ginger syrup
1 750 ml bottle of light rum, 1 l ginger ale
Juice and pulp of 8 limes
Crush the mint leaves and put <g data-gr-id="156">in to</g> a large jug. Mix in the syrup and the lime before adding the rum and ginger ale and serve.
150 g (5oz) strawberries, hulled, 1tbsp caster sugar
A splash of dry vermouth
250ml (8 fl oz) gin or vodka
Place the strawberries, sugar and 3 to 4 ice cubes in an electric blender and blend until pureéd. Transfer to a cocktail shaker. Add extra ice, vermouth and gin/vodka. Stir gently and then strain into four chilled glasses.
