SFI, TMC workers clash in Gazole Mahavidyalaya in Malda

Tension ran high at Gazole Mahavidyalaya in Malda following a clash between the SFI and TMC workers over filing nominations for the college election. Two students were injured in the incident. The situation turned hostile at around 12.30pm on Monday when the members of the two groups started filing their nominations for the forthcoming students’ election at the college. The local MLA Khogen Murmu, who went to the college after hearing about the incident, was heckled by the mob.

Murmu, the MLA of Habibpur assembly constituency, alleged that he was attacked by some goons who entered the college campus disguising themselves as college students. Both the group members pelted stones at one another following which the clash broke out. As the situation turned hostile, a huge contingent of police swung into action to calm the mob. They brought the situation under control after nearly two hours. Police are questioning some students in this connection and are investigating if there was any involvement of outsiders.
