Sex racket busted in city

A major sex racket was busted in outer Delhi’s Rohini on Friday, where two prostitutes, along with a pimp, were arrested. They  were operating from a house in Sector-18, Rohini. On the basis of a tip-off, facts were verified and a raiding party, under the supervision of a Delhi police official, was constituted.

‘The team reached the suspected place, where a police official had been deployed as a decoy customer to negotiate a deal to procure girls. He was given Rs  2,000 of Rs 1,000 denomination, duly signed, to negotiate the deal,’ said a police official. After finalisation of the deal, the informer gave a signal to the police party, which was already available there.

The police officials immediately apprehended the pimp Renu (name changed) of Gol Market, Delhi and two girls Kamla (name changed) and Meena (name changed). The two signed currency notes given to negotiate the deal were recovered from the possession of Renu.

‘The accused, Renu  and Reena, used to procure the girls from their contacts based in Delhi on contractual basis. Kamla was earlier operating in Laxmi Nagar area. She came in contact with the other girl, Meena, as she was already in contact with Reena. Renu offered a more comfortable and profitable profession in Delhi to Kamla and Meena,’ said a police official.

‘Renu and Reena used to allure businessmen, property dealers and traders of Rohini area, and charged Rs 5,000 for each deal. They also used to provide accommodation and liquor at the house taken on rent by their associate for an additional charge of Rs 2,000,’ said the official. Renu used to target traders and businessmen of Rohini and clients visiting Delhi for their business. Some auto-rickshaw drivers were also engaged by the duo on a commission basis.

One of the arrested is from Turkmenistan and had flown to India in May 2012 on a tourist visa. ‘A case has been registered and further investigation is on,’ said a police officer.
