Seven councillors join BJP in capital

With the Delhi Assembly polls nearing, seven councillors, including one each from JD(U) and BSP, on Wednesday joined the BJP.
State BJP president Vijay Goel, who along with co-incharge of Delhi BJP Navjot Singh Sidhu, was present on the occasion welcomed the councillors into the party fold.
He said the councillors will fully cooperate in ensuring BJP victory in the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Goel said that people of Delhi and the country are fed-up with the Congress ‘misrule’.
‘Corruption and price spiral under Congress rule have broken the back of common man. The people want to get rid of it,’ he said.
Five councillors out the seven who joined BJP today contested as independent candidates. One councillor was elected as BSP candidate and another as JD(U) candidate.
Goel slammed the Delhi government for the power tariff hike.

He renewed the promise that the tariff will be slashed by 30 per cent if BJP comes to power in Delhi assembly elections slated to be held in November.
Power tariff has been hiked by five per cent. Earlier, it was hiked by 22 per cent in 2011, followed by five per cent hike in February last year. The tariff was hiked by up to two per cent in May last year and again by 26 per cent for domestic consumers in July last year.
Goel said that the party will hold major rallies on 11 August at Ramlila ground.
