Setting fire to our wings

Former President and renowned scientist APJ Abdul Kalam will deliver the India Habitat Centre Annual Lecture on Evolution of a Nation with Prosperity and Value System at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre on February 20.

The Annual Habitat lecture was launched in 2013 and this year marks the third year of the series.  The lecture is expected to attract a diverse audience of members of the India Habitat Centre, students, teachers, prominent social personalities, key opinion-makers, general public and the media. Kalam has been a source of unending inspiration especially to the youth of today. 

His talks have covered a wide variety of subjects including the model for development of India, Science, Technology and Innovation, Knowledge and leadership. He has been delivering his lectures all across the country and outside India also. His lectures have been profound, thought provoking and inspiring. No wonder his lectures always draw large crowds.

Apart from his lectures he has been a prolific writer. His Vision for India has been set out in his book India 2020 - A Vision for the New Millennium. Apart from books he has also written poems and songs. His life has inspired many Biographies.

He started his career as a Scientist and worked in the Defence Research and Develpoment Organisation and the Indian Space Research Organisation. He has made extremely significant contributions to the Indian scientific and defence achievements. He was elected President of India in 2002. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan (1981), the Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the
Bharat Ratna (2007).
