Server failure hits Ggn traffic offenders hard

Thousands of traffic offenders in Gurgaon whose vehicles were impounded are suffering because a Haryana Police server here has collapsed.

More than 16,000 challans were issued under the Motor Vehicles Act to motorists and two-wheeler drivers on the Zero Tolerance Day on September 15. On an average, police issue 1,000-1,500 tickets a day.

Offenders who don’t pay the fine instantly or whose vehicles were impound have to pay the penalty at the challaning branch in Sushant Lok-1 area.

Nearly 500 vehicles, including two wheelers and three wheelers, were impounded across the city during the special drive. These will be handed back to the owners only after the fine is paid.

A few people who were challaned said their fines were not being accepted due to technical problem.
“The server at the challaning branch has failed due to heavy rains on Friday. It will take a few more days to rectify the problem,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar said.
