‘Senior leader’ wanted help to topple UPA-II’

With union government already in doldrums after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) withdrew support, the former BJP president on Friday created a stir when he claimed that a ‘senior leader’ had approached him to topple the Congress-led UPA-II government at the Centre.

The former BJP president, while speaking in Nagpur, did not share much details except to claim that he had turned down the request. ‘I told the senior leader it’s up to you whether to withdraw support or not,’ said Gadkari, while refusing to identify the senior politician. Gadkari also said that the senior leader got in touch with him during his stint as the BJP president and he had rejected the advice.
