Security guard held for molesting patient’s wife in RML Hospital

A 29-year-old married woman was allegedly molested by the security guard of a private company at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Wednesday night. Police arrested the security guard on the spot. The woman had come to the hospital to get her husband treated.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 10 pm when the woman went to use the toilet at the trauma building of the hospital. The security guard identified as Amod Kumar (23) followed her and went inside the ladies toilet where he tried to molest her. Police said that the woman then raised an alarm following which people present in the vicinity caught him. They thrashed him and then handed him over to the local police.

According to the police, the woman’s husband has been undergoing treatment at the neurosurgery department of the hospital for the past few days. The couple are residents of Bijnaur district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to a doctor of the hospital, it was an attempt to rape. They came to know about the incident in the morning. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities refused to divulge the details of the patient.

Police said that the woman alleged that the security guard had been keeping an eye on her for the past few days.

“A case has been registered at the Mandir Marg police station under Sections 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement) and 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC against the security guard. We immediately arrested him,” said Jatin Narwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (New Delhi).
