Security beefed up at Nabanna after Thursday’s bomb scare

The security has been beefed up at Nabanna on Friday following a bomb scare which was reported on Thursday.

Additional policemen were posted at all the entry and exit gates of Nabanna. Visitors were allowed only after a thorough checking. No one was allowed to enter through the gates which are meant only for vehicles. Door frame metal detectors have been placed at all the entry and exit points.

It may be mentioned that the city police’s bomb disposal squad and dog squad had thoroughly searched the entire building and a youth was arrested on charges of creating panic.

Policemen posted outside the offices of ministers and top officials were also alert. It is learnt that they have been asked to keep a watch whether anybody is moving around suspiciously.

All the vehicles were checked properly before they were allowed to go to the parking lot. On Friday, sniffer dogs were once again brought to Nabanna and the entire building was frisked before the office hours.

The security personnel were also found checking identity cards of the officials when they entered Nabanna.

A high level meeting in which senior police officers were present also held to discuss on the requirement to assure that no untoward incident take place in the building. The on-duty officers at Nabanna have been asked to remain alert and to take necessary steps if they find anything suspicious.
