Second campus of Belle Vue Clinic to come up in Rajarhat in three years

The second campus of the Belle Vue Clinic will come up in Rajarhat in three years.

The CEO, Belle Vue Clinic, P Tondon on Saturday announced that the construction work of a 400 bedded Trauma Centre will begin in December.

Around Rs 400 crore will be spent for setting up the hospital which will come up on 2 acre land with most advanced equipment so that accident victims could be provided with the best treatment.

Along with others, a world class liver transplantation centre will be set up in the hospital.

Tondon also announced that an Eye Hospital and a nursing school will also be constructed in different areas of Rajarhat.

The eye hospital will have 100 beds which is expected to be completed in one and half years at an approximate cost of Rs 72 crore.

“We have plans to set up a world class liver cure unit at the new Belle Vue Clinic at Rajarhat. It will take a few years to set up the hospital having world class trauma centre and it will have a liver transplant unit as well,” Tondon said. 

To provide best quality treatment to the patients suffering from liver related ailments, Belle Vue Clinic has joined hands with Medanta –The Medicity Gurugram (Gurgaon) to establish a Medanta Liver Clinic at Belle Vue which was officially inaugurated on Saturday. The expert doctors from the internationally acclaimed Medanta Clinic will also pay regular visit here in the city for attending to patients.

The newly inaugurated unit at Belle Vue Clinic is equipped with advanced liver treatment facility, enabling patients of Eastern India to get speciality advice for all liver diseases. 

Those who will require liver transplantation will be initially checked here and later they will be taken to Medanta Clinic for surgery. The Medanta Liver Team, having performed nearly 2,500 liver transplants, runs one of the world’s largest liver transplant centres, with more than 95 per cent success rate. It has successfully transplanted livers in more than 300 patients from West Bengal and neighbouring States. 

Dr A S Soin, Chief Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgeon & Chairman, Medanta Liver Institute, Dr Sanjiv Saigal, Director of Hepatology, Medanta, will conduct the Medanta Liver Clinic at Belle Vue Cinic in Kolkata every month, starting from Saturday. 

Dr Manoj Agarwal, Senior Consultant and Gastroenterologist, Belle Vue Clinic, will be associated with the Clinic and available for urgent consultations.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr Soin emphasised that he and other Medanta Liver Institute doctors would regularly conduct clinics at Belle Vue from now on and would be available at a day’s notice for online video consultations via their state-of-the-art telemedicine facilities.

“Nearly 200,000 people died every year in India from terminal liver disease and cancer out of which at least 25,000 of whom could be saved by liver transplants. 

Ten years ago, liver transplantation was not well-developed in India. The new initiative will help patients from Eastern India to cure their various liver ailments,” Dr Soin said.
