SDMC to seek public advice to prepare budget

Following the footsteps of the AAP-led Delhi government, the BJP-ruled South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has announced to seek public suggestions for budget preparations. The Corporation has said that it will invite public ideas and complaints on every level so it could prepare a people-friendly budget and the councilors, social sites and other means will be roped in.

Ashish Sood, Leader of the House in SDMC, said:  “As per the provisions of the DMC Act, the Commissioner prepares budget of the civic body hence the budget presented are often devoid of public changing concerns and needs,” said Sood.

“From now, all SDMC councilors have been asked in general (BJP, Congress and AAP) to organise public meetings in their ward and get suggestions/ideas. Suggestions have also been sought from RWA bodies in a fixed time period. Traditionally, a twitter handle and an e-mail id have been created for this purpose. Once gathered suggestions, it will be discussed in Corporation meetings accordingly and budget will be prepared,” added the leader.
