SDMC to include villagers in development planning

In an initiative Aap Ke Gaon, SDMC is planning to involve the local villagers in the development plan of their localities. In this regard, the chairman of standing committee and municipal commissioner of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) visited around a dozen villages in Najafgarh zone on Monday and interacted with the villagers .

‘Their suggestions for development of their villages will be incorporated in the final budget of SDMC. We have assured a package of Rs 1.5 crore for each village,’ said Rajesh Gehlot, chairman of standing committee of SDMC.

Municipal commissioner of SDMC, Manish Gupta, reached the Dhasa village along with the senior officers of the corporation at 7 am on Monday, where Gehlot had stayed on Sunday night. The duo then started the inspection early in the morning and covered around a dozen villages of Najafgarh area, including Dhasa, Galibpur, Rawta, JhulJhuli, Sarangpur, Dariyapur, Khabad, Badu Sarai, Nanak Heri and Revla Khanpur. Deputy Commissioner of Najafgarh zone, Suresh Chandra Yadav, councillor Pradeep Kumar and other senior officials were present during the visit.

‘The villages of Delhi have been neglected. We will visit all villages of the area in a phased manner, for their inclusive and overall development,’ added Gehlot.

During the visit, villagers put forth problems such as lack of proper drainage system, playgrounds and dispensaries. Gehlot and Gupta listened to them carefully and assured that their problems will be resolved soon. They  directed the officials concerned to take immediate action.
