SDMC denies misuse of funds

Chairman of Education Committee of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), Satish Upadayay, on Wednesday condemned the allegations of Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit that municipal corporations were misusing the fund given by Delhi government for primary education. ‘SDMC sends quarterly expenditure report of grant in aid to the Directorate of Education of Delhi government. It clearly shows transparancy in our working,’ said Upadhayay, terming Dikshit’s statement politically motivated. He also stressed that SDMC is providing books, uniforms, mid-day meal and so on to 3,41,000 students in its 588 schools, and trying to upgrade the standard of primary education.
